Tyler Gaffalione was born on September 12, 1994, in Davie, Florida, and has subsequently won the Eclipse Award for 2015 U.S. Champion Apprentice Jockey as one of racing’s rising talents. He has won over 200 races in his first three full seasons.

Gaffalione was born in Davie, Florida, to Steve Gaffalione, a former rider who competed from 1978 to 1998. When he was four years old, he obtained his first pony and spent a lot of time on the backstretch with his father.

After attending Western High School, Gafflione graduated from Sunlake High School in 2013. He will marry Casi (Lynnard) Edwards in 2021.

Tyler Gaffalione won his maiden race at Gulfstream Park on September 7, 2014, in the third race of his career.

On May 3, 2015, he won five races on a single Gulfstream Park racecard, and on July 4, 2017, he tied Hall of Fame jockey Jerry Bailey’s 19-year-old record of seven victories on a single Gulfstream Park racecard.

On June 30, 2018, Tyler Gaffalione claimed his sixth riding championship at Gulfstream Park.
